Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that true democracy is not possible in any country unless human rights are ensured. He announced that initiatives would be taken for the speedy disposal of cases to ensure justice.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (April 28) around 12:30 PM at an event organized on the occasion of National Legal Aid Day.

The Prime Minister further said that the government has already adopted specific plans to provide legal aid to those who are financially disadvantaged. He expressed his expectation that justice would not remain confined to law books but would take concrete form in people’s lives.

He also added that fairness becomes meaningful only when the law is not applied mechanically to people but transforms into a deep moral commitment to preserve their dignity and ensure their inherent rights. Since justice is a constitutional right for every individual, the government will provide maximum legal aid to ensure that every citizen of the state can exercise this right.

The head of government stated that justice delayed is justice denied. Keeping this reality in mind, initiatives have been taken to resolve disputes before they reach the stage of a lawsuit.
